Activity 3

  Recipes with Roots

 Our own activity

The children wrote a traditional Kastoria recipe for the classic Kastoria bean soup and about the life cycle of the apple since we have apple production in our area.

Recipe for the classic Kastoria bean soup:
Ingredients
1/2 kilo of Plake Megalosperma beans
2/3 cup of extra virgin olive oil
1 tea cup of fresh tomato sauce
1 medium dried onion
2 carrots
1 bunch of celery
salt, red pepper
Instructions
Wash the beans well and let them soak for 8 to 12 hours.
In a saucepan, boil the beans with water, approximately 1 bean to 3 water.
Add the onion (grated), the carrots (cut into rings), only 4 to 5 celery stalks and the tomato sauce.
Boil until the beans are soft but not melted, check the water. Towards the end, add the pepper and salt and the remaining chopped celery.
Let the soup boil for about 2 to 3 minutes. Remove the pot from the heat and add the olive oil.
To thicken the soup, boil it in an open pot, adding the appropriate amount of water.
Also, the children learn the "Life cycle the apple" and draw it since we have apple production in our area.

 Activity 4

Mapping My Meal

The children learn about the banana and draw "The journey of the banana" to our plate.
Accordingly, we collected our local fruit, the apple. We dramatized "the journey of the apple" from the field - factory - supermarket - to our table.
